Environmental Science

Students are doing a very good job with Chapter presentations on LAND.  Content is thorough and visual aids are engaging- some good utube videos and geat taste testing of Organic Foods- Bananas and Milk.

We will finish presentations on Tuesday and move into a group of review topics from the LAND unit:
Toxic Elements, DDT, Rocks and Minerals, Mining, and Organic Foods. We will finish the unit watching the movie Erin Brokovich.

*** Action Points:  Saturday class, Feb. 18.  9-11am.  See you at GEMPP for fun with kids.

Final 30 Action Points are due on Monday, March 12.

  1. Are we handling the movie the same way as gorilla's in the mist? Also, are we going to go anymore in depth over alternative fuel sources? There are a fairly vast number of alternative fuels, energy sources, etc. Perhaps natural oils in foods and bodily decay?
It's Luke, by the way, haha.

  2. Luke, We are scheduled to have a guest speaker on Solar Energy.
I will be covering Mining next. Sorry, but I don't have much more planned on alternative energy. I agree it is a vast topic: Algae, sugar cane, ethanol, wind, biofuels!! Possibly in May. Thanks, MR. Tomey
